Former Barcelona star Enrique Quini dies

Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona have been thrown into mourning following the death of their former star Enrique Quini.

The Spaniard who was known for his superb dribbling skills during his active playing days was said to have died of heart attack at the age of 68.

According to the report by UK Sun, Enrique Quini was on his way to his home in the northern city of Gijon when he had an heart attack, and efforts to resuscitate him were futile.

He played in two World Cups for Spain, in 1978 and 1982 and was the top scorer in La Liga for five seasons.

A statement from Barcelona read: "Enrique Castro 'Quini' dies (1949-2018), player and legend of our Club. The Camp Nou will never forget your legacy, RIP."

Barca star Anders Iniesta also tweeted out saying that he would "miss him" before offering condolences to his family and friends.

And Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu wrote: "Dismayed by the death of Quini, an extraordinary player and an incredible person who won a privileged place in the hearts of the Barça players and the world of football,''.

Enrique Quini is regarded as one of the best strikers in Spanish soccer history as he notched 231 League goals in 443 games for Sporting Gijon.

He also scored 54 times in 100 appearances for Barcelona and earned 35 caps for Spain playing at the 1978 and 1982 World Cups.

Quini won the Pichichi Trophy awarded to the top scorer in La Liga five times between 1974 and 1982.
