- Manchester City have decided Alexis Sanchez is demanding too much money
- Manchester United will have to pay Arsenal £20 million and £15 million to Sanchez's agent
- Chelsea have also asked about Sanchez's terms but they are behind United
Premier League leaders Manchester City have ended their interest in signing Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez but Premier League champions Chelsea have entered the race to sign the Chilean.
City valued the Chile star at £20 million but never made a bid and were also unhappy at the £5 million fee they were quoted for Sanchez's agent.
Etihad top brass have now pulled the plug on their year-long pursuit and left United in pole position to sign Sanchez.
City chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak spoke with Pep Guardiola and City executives and decided the numbers were too hot for them.
Chelsea have also asked about his terms and cannot be ruled out, although they are behind United. They are looking for a striker but can't agree a fee for West Ham's Andy Carroll.
Sanchez has told friends he expects to join Jose Mourinho's United, where the No 7 shirt has been earmarked for him.
