Spanish newspaper, AS, claim Ronaldo, 32, has told friends he wishes to return to Old Trafford.

The Portugal international spent six years at United and won his first Ballon d'Or in 2008, before joining Los Blancos in a world record £80m move in 2009.

However, the terms to the deal signed in 2016 have not changed.

And Real's failed move for Kylian Mbappe - and ongoing Neymar pursuit - since the summer have reportedly fractured Ronaldo's relationship with the Spanish giants.

Man United are hoping to complete the £35m transfer of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the coming days.

But the idea of re-signing their former talisman is one offer many believes the Old Trafford giants will not turn down. .

Ronaldo has smashed records in Madrid and is the club's all-time top scorer with 423 goals.

He has won two La Ligas, three Champions League titles and four more Ballon d'Or awards at the Bernabeu.

The Portuguese captain surprisingly declared that he "ten more years" in him after signing his last deal - and insisted he wanted to end his career in Madrid.

He said: "I'm going to be here for another five years, but let it be known this will not be my last contract.

"I have said many times that I carry this club in my heart, it is part of me and it is a special time in my life.

"Of course I would like to end my career at this club. I want to be here for many years to come. I want to continue rewriting history at this club."

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Real Madrid star forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, was out with a friend to a Madrid restaurant and attempted sneaking away from the public eyes - but the sneaky attempt appeared futile as journalists waited right before his car to ambush him.
