- City understood to have offered Sánchez contract worth £250,000 a week
- Arsenal play Chelsea tonight in the Carabao Cup semi fianl
Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger has insisted he will play unsettled Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez in the Carabao Cup semi final game against Chelsea despite being heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates this January.
Wenger said: “What is the most important is to be professional, to perform no matter what the environment is, that’s why I believe that it does not have a big influence on your performance nor the performance of the team. It’s part of our job to deal with that.
“When solicitations happen, you respond to it. At the moment, it’s very quiet. I have nothing to add to what I said before on that (whether he will be sold).”
Chile forward Sanchez trained on Tuesday and is in the 18 man squad for Stamford Bridge as Arsene Wenger goes near full strength.
Sanchez is a target for Manchester City who have made an enquiry and want to sign him in January but that has not put off Wenger from picking him.
Pep Guardiola will be without Gabriel Jesus for two months because of a medial collateral ligament injury and this has increased the City manager’s desire to sign Sánchez now.
City have opened talks with Arsenal and have indicated a willingness to pay £20m for Sánchez who played under Guardiola at Barcelona.

The League leaders are desperate for his signature, a contract worth £13 million a season until 2023 or £250,000 a week is understood to have been offered to Sánchez’s representatives. Wenger was asked whether he expected Sánchez to stay at Arsenal in January. “I expect nothing,” he said.
Wenger will hope his talisman will be in the right frame of mind tonight Wednesday January 10 to help them get a favorable result at the Bridge.
