- Arsene Wenger lines up Cristian Pavon as possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez
- Pavon could cost Arsenal up to £27 million and Wenger fears his fee might escalate after the World Cup
- The Argentine can play as a striker and as a winger
Arsenal could be set to meet Cristian Pavon’s release clause within ‘the next few hours’ as they prepare for life without Alexis Sanchez.
Reports in Argentina claim that Arsene Wenger is ready to push through a deal for the winger, who currently plays for Boca Juniors.
While Wenger was quick to maintain no official bid has come from Manchester City, he refused to clarify whether or not he expected the former Barcelona striker to stay at the club.
Pavon has been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks but initial reports have suggested that Wenger may wait until the summer before trying to get a deal done with Boca keen to keep hold of the attacker for their Copa Libertadores campaign.
The forward can play in a wide position or through the middle, and has managed three goals from 12 games this season - notching five assists in the process.
