Statue of Chelsea legend Michael Essien come to light in Ghana

- A football statue of former Chelsea star Michael Essien has been made in Ghana

- The statue did not look like the man who currently plays in Indonesia

- It has been compared to that of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo made last year in Portugal

A football statue of former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has just been made and it has been criticized as worse than that of Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Maradona’s statues.

The statue was unveiled in Kumasi, Ghana and Michael Essien must have really been hoping the sculptures would get this one right.

Michael Essien's statue is a delight of metallic colors, wacky angles and an almost unrecognizable face for the man who made 168 appearances for the Blues.

Born on December 3, 1982, Michael Essien is a Ghanaian footballer who currently plays for Indonesian club Persib Bandung. He has also been capped for the Ghana national team more than 50 times.

Previously, Legit.ng had reported how Twitter trolling went to a whole new level when a bizarre statue of Cristiano Ronaldo was unveiled on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 as the Madeira airport was renamed after the Real Madrid player.

It was reported how Portugal renamed the airport in the hometown of the Real Madrid forward after him in a ceremony he attended.

A Ronaldo statue, a museum and a hotel complex has earlier been dedicated to him in Fuschal, just outside his hometown.
