Sensational Liverppol attacker, Mohamed Salah has admitted he was already dreaming of wearing the famous Red shirts of Liverpool shirt when he was playing for Chelsea at Anfield.

The Egyptian is enjoying a stellar first season on Merseyside after signing from Roma in the summer, scoring 20 goals in all competitions including a strike in Sunday's 4-0 win at Bournemouth which saw Liverpool return to the top four.

But Salah could have been a Red much earlier than he actually was, with Chelsea swooping in to prevent Brendan Rodgers taking him to Anfield for £11m in January 2014.

And speaking to Liverpool's official website, Salah has claimed his poor form at perhaps happened for a reason..

"There was interest from Liverpool when I went to Chelsea," he said. "But I think if I’d come at that time maybe things wouldn’t have maybe have gone as well then as they have for me now. Who knows?

"But I went to Chelsea and everything worked out how it did and now I am here at Liverpool at the right time."

And Salah has revealed that when he played for the Blues at Anfield in April 2014 - the infamous Steven Gerrard 'slip' game - what he saw from the fans make him want to come back one day.

"It was while I was at Chelsea that I first got to play at Anfield," he continued. "I can remember I told myself – as I said on my very first day here – ‘I have to come here one day and play’ after I’d experienced that atmosphere.

"That atmosphere was unbelievable, really. I was very happy to play here against Liverpool – and now I am even happier to play for Liverpool here."

NAIJ.com previously reported that Confederation of African Football (CAF) have unveiled Egyptian attacker Mohamed Salah, Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Senegalese attacker Sadio Mane as the top three finalist for African player of the year award.

Mohamed Salah who plays for English side Liverpool has been in tremendious form for his side this season as he is presently the highest goal scorer in the English Premier League with 14 goals.
