Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been charged with an £8,000 fine after he was hit with a misconduct charge by the FA in Chelsea's game against Swansea.

The former Italian international was sent off by by referee Neil Swarbrick after protesting time wasting by Swansea players in the game against Chelsea, a game the Blues won by 1-0.

Conte apologised to fourth official Lee Mason and Swarbrick after the match.

He had admitted: "I made a mistake. With my players I suffer. It's a pity."

"I was angry because despite twice I said to the fourth official 'look, because they are wasting a lot of time'. I shout this. I accept the decision of the referee."

The former Juventus manager also added that he hoped Swarbrick would learn from the incident at Stamford Bridge.

He added: "I also want the referee to learn something, for me, Swansea was wasting time.

"In this case, the referee has to try to protect the team that want to win, want to play football."

The FA said in a statement that Conte had admitted the misconduct charge and accepted 'the standard penalty' for the offence.

Chelsea who are currently third on the Premier League table will travel away to David Moyes' Westham in a London derby at Lunch time on Saturday.
