The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Argentina national team are familiar foes as far as international football is concerned, and the rivalry between these two nations will continue when they meet at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Nigeria and Argentina have met eight times before with the South Americans winning five of the encounters, drawing one and losing two games against the Super Eagles.
Ahead of the 2018 FIFA world Cup in Russia, Nigeria and Argentina have met before four times in the competition with the South American side winning all the four games.

1. Claudio Caniggia
Argentine retired footballer Claudio Caniggia played 50 games for the national team, and he was the one that broke the hearts of many Nigerian football lovers when he scored a brace at the 1994 World Cup in USA for Argentina to beat Nigeria 2-1. He cancelled Samson Siasia's opener in the encounter.
2. Gabriel Batistuta
At the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup, the Super Eagles' team led by Coach Adegboye Onigbinde suffered a 1-0 defeat to Argentina on June 2, 2002 thanks to a powerful header by Gabriel Batistuta.
3. Gabriel Heinze
On June 12, 2010, Argentina again defeated Nigeria at the World Cup, and it was 39-year-old left back Gabriel Heinze who scored the winner for the South Americans.
4. Lionel Messi
At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Nigeria suffered another defeat to Argentina, and this time around it was a 3-2 loss.
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi scored a brace against Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama while Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa also scored a brace for the Super Eagles.
5. Marcos Rojo
Nigerian football lovers were thinking the Super Eagles would score another goal against Argentina at the 2014 World Cup, but they were disappointed when Marcos Rojo scored the wining goal for Argentina at the death.
