Revealed: Who the world's biggest players and coaches voted for in FIFA awards

- John Mikel Obi voted Gianluigi Buffon one of the top three players

- Cristiano Ronaldo voted three of his club teammates for the award

- The Madrid man picked the award ahead of rival Barcelona's Lionel Messi

FIFA has revealed the the manner in which captain of national football teams voted for the FIFA footballer of the year.

Documents released by FIFA shows votes for Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi, Portugal captain Ronaldo and Argentina captain Lionel Messi.

The first vote gets five points, second vote gets three while the third gets one. A media representative from each country is given the same opportunity.

The players are not allowed to vote for themselves

Here’s who they voted for:

Lionel Messi

1st: Luis Suarez

2nd: Andres Iniesta

3rd: Neymar


John Mikel Obi

1st: Messi

2nd: Cristiano Ronaldo

3rd: Gianluigi Buffon

1st: Luka Modric

2nd: Sergio Ramos

3rd: Marcelo

Cristiano Ronaldo would be named the footballer of the year with Messi coming in second place while Neymar now of PSG took third place.

Gianluigi Buffon would be named in the FIFA FIFPro team of the year and pick up the goalkeeper of the year award.
