- Jose Mourinho is expected to sign a new five year contract at Manchester United
- His basic wage of £250,000 a week will remain the same but other incentives will increase
- Club chiefs are said to be happy with how he has connected with fans during his stay
Manchester United want to tie down Jose Mourinho to a new £65million five-year deal after convincing the club he is the perfect replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson.
If Mourinho does sign the new deal and remain at Old Trafford, it will make his time at Old Trafford the longest tenure of his career.
The 54-year-old and Manchester City's Pep Guardiola are the highest paid managers in the world, with both reportedly earning £250,000 a week.
According to the Sun, Mourinho's new contract will see him earn the same basic wage but the incentive package for trophies and league positions is set to rocket.
The final details are however still to be agreed. Mourinho initially signed a three-year deal in the summer of 2016 when he replaced Louis Van Gaal.
United chiefs are happy with the way Mourinho connected with fans and turned the club around in less than a year-and-a-half.
