Brazil maintained their dominance in the South American section of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification with a 3-0 emphatic win over Chile in the wee hours of Wednesday, October 11.
Not only did the victory help rivals Argentina qualify to the World cup, it sent Chile out of next year's tournament as Peru secured the sole spot for the international play-off against New Zealand to be in Russia 2018.
The Selecao were the only South American side guaranteed to be at next year's World Cup before the game, but that did not stop their coach Tite from fielding a very strong squad which included PSG star Neymar against Chile who had not scored in any of their previous four away qualifiers.

And after a goalless first half, Brazil broke the deadlock in the 55th minute after Man City goalie spilled a Neymar's free-kick, allowing Paulinho to slot home the rebound.
Brazil soon made it two goals in two minutes as Neymar again provided the assist for Gabriel Jesus to extend their lead in the 57th minute. The PSG star embarked on a dashing run before his simple square ball into the box was converted by Gabriel Jesus.
Gabriel scored a second in the 90th minute to give Brazil a 3-0 win as Copa America champions Chile miss out in Russia 2018.
Meanwhile, a Lionel Messi hattrick in Argentina 3-1 victory over Ecuador and a 1-1 draw for Peru against Columbia crushed Alexis Sanchez and his teammates' dreams of playing at Russia 2018 World cup.
