Arsenal’s Mustafi suffers ‘muscle tear’ in Germany’s win over Azerbaijan

- Shkodran Mustafi could miss months of action after limping out of Germany's win over Azerbaijan

- The center-back has been a key player for Arsene Wenger's men this season in their back-three set-up

- Germany coach Joachim Low has confirmed he has suffered "some muscle tear or some muscle fibre tear"

Arsene Wenger will have to do without key defender Shkodran Mustafi for at least a month after the defender limped out of Germany’s 5-1 World Cup qualifying win over Azerbaijan on Sunday, October 8.

The 24-year-old held his right thigh in the 36th minute of the match and the coach, Joachim Löw, later confirmed he sustained a suspected muscle injury.

“With Mustafi it seems that it is some muscle tear or some muscle fibre tear,” Löw said. “In any case it could force him to a longer break.”

This would mean trouble for Arsene Wenger after Laurent Koscielny pulled out of France’s squad last week with an achilles injury while Calum Chambers is yet to feature this season due to a hip problem.

This would mean Nacho Monreal, not a natural center-back, Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding as the only fit senior center-backs at the club after Gabriel Paulista was sold to Valencia last summer.
