- Barcelona star Lionel Messi may not play at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia
- This comes after Argentina were forced to a 0-0 draw by Peru on Thursday night
- Argentina must win their next game against Ecuador for them to have any chance
South American giants Argentina are now in a serious danger of missing the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after they were forced to a 0-0 draw by Peru on Thursday night, October 5.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi who has been so superb this season for his club failed to inspire his national team to victory against Peru in a tough battle.
Argentina had chosen to play the match in the red-hot atmosphere of La Bombonera instead of the bigger Estadio Monumental which is home to Boca Junior's arch rivals River Plate.
But Peru sat back and soaked up waves of attacks until Argentina almost broke the deadlock from a corner which was missed by Lionel Messi.
The result however leaves Argentina needing a win in Ecuador to guarantee a play-off against New Zealand.
And should they miss out, then it means the two-time tournament winners will miss a World Cup for the first time since Mexico 1970.
NAIJ.com had earlier reported of how Harry Kane's superb goal gave England their World Cup ticket thereby joining nine other teams who have also qualified.
