Alvaro Morata to be out for six weeks due to hamstring injury

Premier League champions Chelsea have been hit with a severe blow after it was confirmed on Monday night, October 2, 2017 that star striker Alvaro Morata will be out of action for six weeks.

The Spaniard who has scored six goals in seven Premier League games for his new club pulled up 10 minutes before half‑time against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, September 30, complaining of discomfort in his left thigh.

Spanish Football Federation have confirmed that Morata has suffered a grade two hamstring tear which is expected to keep him out for at least the whole of October 2017 and could be longer.

Morata could miss two Champions League games against Roma and Premier League clashes against Crystal Palace, Watford, Everton and Bournemouth which is a big chunk.

Chelsea are now left with only one striker who is Michy Batshuayi, and he has also been impressive this season for the Blues.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported of how Chelsea coach Antonio Conte gave an update on the injury of Morata claiming that it is not a serious one.
