Gabriel Jesus had a goal disallowed inadvertently directing the ball into the net with his hand as he was booked by the refree.

Jesus had the best chance in the first-half with a header from Aguero's cross but was saved by Brighton's goalkeeper Mathew Ryan.

City enjoyed more of the possession as Brighton held out throughout the first-half to force the game into a goalless draw at half-time.

Sergio Aguero scored in the 70th minute to put the Citizens in front after smashing the ball into the back of the net.
