Venus Williams failed to win the 2017 Wimbledon final after losing 7-5 6-0 to Garbine Muguruza in the final.

Muguruza wins her second career title and is now the 1st Spanish woman to win #Wimbledon since Conchita Martinez in 1994.

Serena, sister to Venus missed the tournament due to her pregnancy and the latter was keen to keep the trophy in the family.

Muguruza saved two set points in the 10th game of the first set, and then won nine straight games to win.

The match was played under a closed roof on Centre Court, the first time a women's final had been played indoors.

Venus fails to win her sixth Wimbledon title with her last one coming in 2008.

Prior to the tournament, NAIJ.com reported that police had blamed Venus for an accident that left one 78-year-old man dead.
