- Barcelona want to sign Cesar Azpilicueta after Chelsea signed Antonio Rudiger
- Conte does not want to lose the Spain international, who he sees as vital
- Rudiger is a defender who can play as both a centre-back and right-back
- The Catalans are having a hard time forcing Arsenal to sell Hector Bellerin
Barcelona believe they can sign Cesar Azpilicueta after Chelsea confirmed the signing of Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma, reports in Spain claim.
Antonio Conte made Rudiger a major target at the end of last season but he will now have to deal with the exit of another defender if Barcelona get their way.
Cadena COPE report, the Catalans believe a move for Azpilicueta would be easier to complete given the arrival of Rudiger.
The Catalans's first choice right-back is Hector Bellerin but new boss Ernesto Valverde is finding it hard to lure the Spain Under-21 international away from Arsenal.
Azpilicueta can play anywhere along the back line, which is interesting for Barcelona with Gerard Pique now 30.
Meanwhile, Antonio Conte has made it clear that he would not want to lose the Spaniard as he sees the 27-year-old an important part of his system.
