A last gasp header by Hector Moreno helped Mexico secure a vital point against European Champions Portugal in the second match of Group A at the ongoing 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

A moment of controversy came when Pepe’s goal was ruled out in the 21st minute after there were appeals Nani was offside. The referee sent the decision for video review and after about a long one minute, the goal was disallowed.

The highly entertaining fixture saw Cristiano Ronaldo put through a sublime assist for Ricardo Quaresma who slotted home the opening goal in the 35th minute.

Mexico had a corner kick right at the death and Hector Moreno headed home the crucial equalizer to send the entire Kazan Arena into the wilds. It ended; Portugal 2-2 Mexico.

Host Russia who defeated New Zealand 2-0 in the opening fixture of the tournament lead the group with 3 points. Portugal and Mexico are on a point each, while New Zealand are rock bottom with no point.

In Group B, Cameroon lost 2-0 to Chile while Australia and Germany who are other teams in the group will face-off on Monday, June 19.
