In this opinion piece, NAIJ.com’s contributor Babajide Orevba charged Nigerian officials to immediately clarify to Nigerians the actual date Stephen Keshi passed away.

In a country where record and date keeping is very poor, there seems to be a huge controversy as to the actual date former Super Eagles captain and coach died.

Nigerian’s woke up on June 8, 2016, to the tragic news of the death of one of the country’s finest football personalities of all Stephen Keshi.

The tactician who tutored the Super Eagles to an unbelievable AFCON glory in 2013 is only the second man to have won the prestigious tournament as a player and as a coach, having won it in 1994 as a captain.

He remains the only African coach to have qualified for the World Cup with two African nations.

Reports say he suffered a leg ailment in the early hours of Wednesday, June 8 and died on the way to the hospital about 3.am.
