Story of how Nigerian footballer Olorunleke Ojo made it to the top

The dreams of Akwa United goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo when he was a child was for him to become one of Nigeria's finest goalkeeper, but he never knew that the road to success would be so rough for him.

Born on August 17, 1995, Olorunleke Ojo attended the Saint Augustine College in Kabba, Kogi state and he came out as one of the best students.

But things never went well for Olorunleke as his father who is a lecturer at one of Nigeria's finest institution wanted him to become a lawyer, but Olorunleke was against the wish of his father and he was neglected.

He explained to NAIJ.com that he was so frustrated after leaving secondary school as many coaches that would have signed him gave him no chance for him to exhibit his talent.

The goalie however refused to be intimidated by the challenges he passed through for him to have chosen football as a career, and he met a relief in 2011 when he was given a chance at defunct Voice of Nigeria FC, Abuja, and that was how his story changed.

''I went through so mental pains when I chose football as my career because my father is a lecturer and he wanted me to become a lawyer, but I had a dream of becoming a footballer.

''There are so many things that happened to me that I would not want to share during my course of becoming a footballer, but I have the mouth to thank God today because He made my dream come true.

''My father never supported me when I chose football as my career, but he later accepted to be of help to me before I joined Voice of Nigeria in Abuja before I moved to Zamfara United, Giwa FC, Sunshine Stars and now Akwa United,'' he explained.

Meanwhile, Olorunleke Ojo's dreams of being watched on a global television finally came true in 2015 when he was called up for the Nigeria's U20 side and he was superb helping the team to win the African Youth Championship in Senegal.

Luckily for him, he married Tosin Ojo who is one of the finest female Sports administrator in Nigeria as she is the manager of Confluence Queens of Lokoja and they are both living together happily.
