However, Arsenal boss Arsene wenger defended his star player insisting the Chilean was booked for not retreating at the throw-in rather than for faking injury and he condemned Fuchs for his action.

He said: “In the first two attempts when Fuchs tried to throw the ball in, Sanchez stood next to him and did not know he had to be further away. He was not the required distance.

He also added: “Fuchs was lucky not to get a yellow card because he threw the ball at him on purpose.”

Sanchez was lambasted on social media for apparently faking the injury and exaggerating the incident by falling on the ground.

But the Chilean has come out to post a picture of his injured lips on twitter showing he was not faking the injury.

The South American is Arsenal's top goal scorer this season and he has played a key role for the Gunners since signing for the club in 2014 and may likely leave this summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has however vowed to keep the player at the club beyond this summer.
