As Nigeria and Africa's richest man Aliko Dangote celebrates his 60th birthday, we take a look at three wonderful things the billionaire has achieved in sports.
Dangote is a known supporter of Arsenal FC and has repeatedly stated his desire to buy the club but asides that, what else has he achieved in sport.
1. He once/owned BBC Lions FC
Unknown to many, Africa's richest man owns BCC Lions or once owned the Benue based club.
His status as the owner of the company cannot be verified now but back in 2008, Dangote as chairman of the BCC board, announced a 110 million naira gift to help the team to participate in the 2008/09 season.
Sadly the they were relegated after finishing 13th. The club currently play in the Nigeria Amateur League.
2. He rewarded the 2013 AFCON winning team
Like many other Nigerian billionaires, Dangote showed love for football by reportedly donating some gift to the 2013 AFCON winning team under Stephen Keshi.
3. Dangote has interest in Arsenal FC
The most popular thing that links Dangote with sport is his desire to buy Arsenal, something that would be a major achievement.
After initially denying interest in buying Arsenal, the 60-year-old came out to indicate his interest in the Gunners.
He indicated in 2015 that the year 2019 would be one he would love to buy a controlling stake at the club.
