- Real Madrid will be without their star defender Pepe against Bayern Munich
- Pepe sustained an injury in Real Madrid's 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid on April 8
- Real will face Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final clash on April 12, 2017
Spanish club Real Madrid have been hit with a blow as star player Pepe has been ruled out of both Bayern Munich Champions League games after breaking two ribs.
NAIJ.com understands that the defender accidentally clashed with his teammate Toni Kroos on Saturday, April 8 in the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid which ended 1-1.
Pepe who scored his side's only goal against their much heralded opponents was later taken to the hospital for scans which revealed the damage.
His injury will now be a serious headache for Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane as Raphael Varane who would have been a good replacement for Pepe is also out of action with a hamstring problem.
Zidane will only be able to call upon Sergio Ramos and Nacho in terms of first-team central defenders for the game against Bayern Munich on April 12, 2017.
