Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has launched an attack on Gunners' trio of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi claiming that these players are responsible for the position Arsene Wenger finds himself.
Since the Gunners exit at the UEFA Champions League where they were trashed by Bayern Munich, fans have continued to call for the resignation of the Frenchman.
Lehmann who was part of Arsenal's 2003/04 'invisible' team explained that the fans would not have reacted angrily if the trio of Sanchez, Ozil and Mustafi had stepped up their games.
“You must be a big player mentally — not just be good at dribbling. There’s always a question with Ozil — how much can he contribute when it gets tough?
“It’s not Mustafi’s fault someone has paid £35 milllion for him. If someone buys me for £35 million, the next day I’m not a better player.
“He is giving everything, but sometimes the team concede five, so he has to ask himself if it’s good enough,'' he said.
This term, Arsenal's only title hope will be the FA Cup if they could find their way to the final.
