Lionel Messi fears he is losing his influence at Barcelona as its best player if the board follows Neymar's advice to buy Liverpool's Phil Coutinho.
The working relationship between the pair could become strained if Coutinho arrives, Diario Gol reports.
Barcelona have played the Liverpool top of their transfer list ahead of next season as advised by Neymar but Messi feels his arrival would mean he advise in trasfer dealings are not taken seriously.
Messi is Barcelona's vice-captain and also their highest paid player which gives him added Boardroom influence though that is under threat from 35-year-old Neymar.
Coutinho and Neymar have always been best of friends from their time at Brazil to their development through the Brazil national teams.
With Messi's contract set to expire in 18 months time and Coutinho looking likely to arrive due to Neymar's influence in the boardroom, Messi's time at the club might be coming to an end.
The 29-year-old has netted 39 times this season and is on track to beat the 49 he grabbed last term.
Andres Iniesta is now 32 and that means Messi is looking like the future captain at the club but he still question's Neymar's influence given his request to have PSG's Angel Di Maria signed has not been followed up.
