There are reports that popular Nigeria Professional Football League coach Kelechi Emeteole is suffering from a serious cancerous condition that would require urgent surgery.

Vanguard reports that the former Green Eagles player has been diagnosed with cancer of the throat and has consequently lost his voice. He equally cannot breathe properly but does that with by the aid of a pipe linked to his throat on the neck.

His wife, Lolo Emeteole, also confirmed the situation that her husband has been battling for his life since December 2015 and all efforts to resuscitate him have been futile.

''It was in December 2015 that my husband lost his voice and ever since then we have been running up and down for him to get better, but the situation is now worse.

''We have visited so many hospitals and the final conclusion is that he will be taken to India for treatment which will cost $11,000 and we don't have money because he is being owed by many Nigerian League clubs,'' she explained.

Coach Kelechi Emeteole has managed Nigerian clubs like Enyimba, Lobi Stars, Heartland, Elkanemi Warriors and Enugu Rangers.
