Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, on Thursday, March 2, lost out to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Dele Alli, for the prize of the Young Player of the Year at the prestigious London Football Awards for 2017.
Alli saw off competition from Alex Iwobi, his teammate Hector Bellerin, Everton’s Ademola Lookman and Fulham Ryan Sessegnon.
The Tottenham midfielder has emerged as one of English football's brightest young talents, making a huge impression in his first season in the Premier League with Tottenham in 2015-16.
His performances saw him earn his England debut in 2015, while he scored on his first start for his country with a stunning long-range effort against France at Wembley.
The 20-year-old is having another outstanding campaign in the Premier League, scoring 12 goals in 25 games so far for second-placed Spurs.
Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante was named the London Payer of the Year, beating off competition from the likes of Alexis Sanchez and team-mate Diego Costa to claim the capital's best player gong.
