Nigeria's Sports Minister Barrister Solomon Dalung and Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode were on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 on a tour of facilities at the abandoned National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

Lagos state Government under the leadership of Governor Ambode had proposed take over plans to revive the dilapidated stadium which prompted the Nigeria's Minister of Sports to visit the venue.

The National Stadium which has been in bad shape for almost two decades has been home to a mix of bitter-sweet memories of the country’s involvement in several Sports events since it was built 45 years ago.
