According to Italian news website TuttoMercatoWeb, Roma could attempt a mouthwatering move for the 22-year-old as United continue to shop for Kostas Manolas’ replacement - who looks destined to leave in the summer.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is said to be assisting Jose Mourinho’s side in the negotiations in order to convince Lindelof to move to Old Trafford as the player is keen in joining top European club.

"He is growing. He has a lot of responsibility with the national team now," Ibrahimovic said.

"Is he good enough for United? I think he is ready for the big clubs out there.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has reacted to rumours making rounds that he is heading to the Premier League to join Manchester United.

The Euro 2016 player of the tournament acknowledges the role Atletico manager Diego Simeone has had on his football career.
