After watching his side losing 1-2 at home to Watford in a Premier League duel which left many Arsenal fans disappointed on Tuesday night (January, 31, 2017), Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has explained the rationale that made his wards suffer the embarrassing defeat.
The defeat decimated the hope of Arsenal challenging for the Premier League title, and the French man has explained that his boys were not ready for the encounter.
Arsenal were impressive on Saturday, January 28, 2017 as they thrashed Southampton to qualify for the FA Cup fifth round and all the hope of their fans was for them to beat visiting Watford on Tuesday night.
The Gunners would have reduced the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea had it been they won against Watford, but they exemplified lots of profligacy and they paid for it in front of their faithfuls.

"It was obvious we lost the duel and were not sharp enough, and it looked more mentally that we were not ready for the challenges. We were unlucky for the first goal which was deflected after a soft free-kick.
"Where does it leave the League? We lost and we want to respond in the next game. You can only have a chance if you win your games. I knew exactly what we were preparing for, but we have to learn from it." Wenger explained
Arsenal now occupy third position on the Premier League standings with 47 points, and the Gunners are now 9 points behind leaders Chelsea.
