Famous English footballer charged with fraud and money laundering, could go to jail

- Southend United's star Nile Ranger has been charged with fraud and money laundering

- He was accused to have been involved in the act in February 2015

- Authorities in charge have explained that he will be prosecuted

Former Crystal Palace striker Nile Ranger has been charged with fraud and money laundering and he could be jailed if found guilty of the offence.

The 25-year-old forward was said to have been involved in conspiracy to defraud and also to commit money laundering in February 2015.

Metropolitan police explained that the offences relates to the collecting of a person's bank account information on phone with the view of getting their money collected.

Nile Ranger who has also played for Newcastle United was charged on Monday, December 12, 2016 and he could be jailed by the court of law if guilty.

He signed a one-year contract in August 2016 with Southend United, and he has made 11 appearances for the club this season.
