My Children will never play for Nigeria - Akide

- Former Super Falcons striker Mercy Akide Udoh has vowed that her children will not play for Nigeria

- According to her, unless there is an improvement in the welfare of players her kids wont feature for Nigeria

Ex Super Falcons forward Mercy Akide Udoh has explained that her children would never play for Nigeria unless there is a change in the poor treatment of players by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Mercy Akide Udoh while playing for Nigeria

Mercy Akide Udoh is a legend in Nigeria as she was named the first African women footballer of the year in 2001. She also won it in the year 1999 and 2004.

Reacting to the ill-fated treatment meted on the Nigeria's Super Falcons who have not been paid their allowances by the country's football authorities despite winning the 2016 AWCON in Cameroon, Akide vowed that her children will not feature for her home country.

''It should have been a happy ending for them, but it turned the other way round and the facts is these players have families who are waiting for them and this is not the type of treatment they deserve.

''We have suffered in our own time while playing for Nigeria, and this is a new generation of players, and they should be treated well. I am sorry, my children will never play for Nigeria if the Nigeria Football Federation continue to treat players like this,'' Mercy Akide Udoh stated.

Meanwhile, the Super Falcons are still in Abuja as they have vowed not to leave until all their wages and entitlement are settled.
